If you find you have a number of short stemmed flowers, combine a few like these royal purple anemones and electric yellow calla lilies in small containers and use them in groupings. They don't even have to be the same flowers in each. I've used vases here, but so many household items will work - tea cups, coffee mugs, shot glasses, juice glasses, votive holders, wine glasses...look through your cabinets and be creative! The colored raffia here adds additional rhythm and interest, but you could choose ribbon or yarn instead, depending on your container and your flowers.
