Simply Gourd-eous!

I love adding interesting embellishments to my floral designs.
And what better for a Thanksgiving arrangement than colorful gourds and miniature pumpkins.

I twisted gold aluminum wire around the inside of these glass hurricanes, then added a few glossy gourds. The floral foam is resting inside of a plastic liner from the hardware store. It fit perfectly. Once again, I used some greens from my yard - euanymus, jasmine and hydrangea leaves. This grocery store bouquet had a lot of button chrysanthemums, many of which I broke off of the main stem before adding them to the foam. Then I added the roses and my focal flowers, sunny gerbera daisies. Two stems of white snapdragon and some Queen Anne's lace are the last of the floral materials. To attach the pumpkin, I used a bamboo skewer broken in half. If you have trouble getting the skewer into the flesh, use a tiny phillips head screwdriver to give it a start.

This grouping would work well on a long dining table. You can extend the two side hurricanes out and scatter gourds and a few Autumn leaves in between. Very festive! Think of what else you could use inside the containers - shiny apples in reds, greens and yellows, pomegranates, pears. Use your imagination! But try to get flowers that blend with your inserts.
