All Choked Up

I just love to combine produce and flowers. Artichokes are especially eye-catching.

I used four aspidistra leaves in this arrangement. You could use several other types of large leaves as well. Floral foam is disguised by two leaves and some twisted bear grass for texture and rhythm. To make an aspidistra curl, bend the tip of the leaf over and poke it with the stem. You may need to give it a little help with the tip of a sharp knife first. The stems are then inserted into the floral foam. The artichoke was added by inserting a couple of pieces of a bamboo skewer. Four two-toned tulips are complimented by two pin cushion protea. Novelty leucodendrun and a kiwi vine complete this compact design. Of course, you could use your own choice of flowers, readily available at the same supermarket where you found the artichoke!
